Go North: Short Track Super Series HYTORC of New York North Region Starts at Airborne

PLATTSBURGH, NY – As the saying goes, “Go North, Young Man.”

On Thursday night (May 29), the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco kicks off its HYTORC of New York North Region Modified championship battle at Mike Bruno’s pristine Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

The series makes its second-ever appearance at Airborne after a rousing debut at the facility last May, an event won by Anthony Perrego in Bob Hentschel’s No. 4.

A 70-lap, $7,000-to-win feature is on deck for STSS North Region competitors with $1,000 for 10th and $500 to take the green flag.

A year ago, Perrego outdistanced Michael Maresca, Alex Payne, Mat Williamson and Stewart Friesen for the inaugural victory.

After completing a pair of March events, the series was silent until Tuesday night with a thrilling NJ Quality Drywall South Region program at Action Track USA in Plattsburgh, N.Y., won by Matt Sheppard with a last-lap, last-corner pass of Mike Gular. Now, attention turns to the second STSS Modified event in three days.

The series debuts a new North Region title sponsor in HYTORC of New York at Airborne.

HYTORC of New York is a “one stop shop” for all torque tool and industrial bolting needs, offering rentals, sales, solutions and training as well as on-site torque wrench calibration and repair of all manual pneumatic, hydraulic and battery powered torque wrenches.

Early hauler parking begins at 2 p.m., with pit gates opening at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 5:30 p.m. and Dirt Draft Hot Laps begin at 6 p.m. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $25. Kids 12 and under are FREE. Pit admission is $45.
